Joe Koenig: Peacock TattooNovember 19, 2009

Tattoo design for musician Joe Koenig. Inspired as a memorial for his mother, who passed away on November 4th. Much of Joe’s music is driven by inspired life events, a soulful narrative of times good and bad. The “Koenig” name translates to “King” in German, therefore the peacock was chosen as a symbol of royalty. The “Texas Star” was incorporated to represent the family’s hometown state.

Below, you’ll see early attempts of concealing the “11″ and “4″ (as well as the state of Texas) within the tail feathers. That was eventually abandoned for the script typeface, which Jimmy apRoberts helped us figure out.

this lives on my arm.. thanks again brian..

Wow, that design is truly beautiful! How long did it take you to design and draw it out? I want a tattoo, but, cant decide on the design, its taking me aaages, I may get someone else to design for me, I think I am too picky to do it for myself. Anyway, well done, it is a really clever and pretty design. xx
